Post  samson on Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:48 am

Hi All

I just faund a old disk with pics. of a model - Billing Boats Mary Ann as i build som years ago for a frind that wonted it for sailing with - so the callents was therfor to mak space for the teknik and still after asampling have acest to it thru a small hool under the weelhouse .

I hawe made a chance from the building manual that says the dek shal on before planking .

becors the model schal bee water prufed i give et 3 cots warnis in and out .

I think the wood is balsa and is wewry light and issey to bend -so it is no problem to make the wery round steern .

her is som pics of some of the reeal fishing wessels as they luuks to day 50-60 yers after the time hwen they mostly was build ( the model is chowing a Fising bout from that periot . )

That is a really fine model Samson

How long did it take you to do from start to finish and did you ever get any pictures of your friend sailing it?

At the moment I am content with static display models, they are taking long enough to do but seeing that kit makes me think again.

The main problem where I live would be finding somewhere to sail the boat once it was finished.

Perhaps I should start looking around to see whether there are any clubs sufficiently near to my side of Leeds

By the way i did build or rebild another model i had to be rc. after building Mary Ann , it was a old model i build as a kid back in mid 70,ties . - and her you maybe notis a coneksion .? it name - SAMSON . it from a no longer exist. danis factury caled DMI - Dansk modelfly industri .

It have for more than 30 yers , just lieng and colekting dust . so i bord the rc set and put it in . it was great fon to du but it not a bik thing for me sailing with it so i sold it schortly after .

Her som pic of the rebuild

I iven made a bardes for it . It was build from garbitsh - frut boxes . it was newer a cusses sailing with thoe.

I did 1 time sail wit SAMSON before selling it

It ofcors is fun to saile your model hwen you just suksided the tarsk and all works .

Your craftsmanship is truly awesome and inspirational mate, however, if I brought a wheelbarrow into our hose, I would be leaving with it in a flash lol, but a cracking idea for testing ballast.

thanks for sharing the pics with us.

all the best
David
