Black Pearl

Post  Jack Sparrow on Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:54 am

This is the first of 2 Black Pearl builds that I have. The second kit was only released this year, and although it is as near to the film version as possible, it still needs some scratch building to make it 100%.
This version is a long way from the film version, although I am trying to make it a bit more authentic, it will still be a nice ship that will look good.

The instructions are "interesting" to say the least!! lol!

And here is the keel and frames assembled.

More Piccies to come!! pirat Very Happy

Some more pics of my progress. pirat pirat

The anchors that came with the kit were not good quaility and were way off scale so I got some from CMB and they are perfect!! pirat

The ships wheel built up. pirat

Cabin door and windows. The door and windows and the pillars were replaced from CMB. pirat pirat

The gallery roof on the Pearl in the movies is tarnished copper. I bought a sheet of copper speaker sheilding, scribed the tile pattern, cut it to size and stuck it on. I think it looks really good. pirat pirat

The carving design is made up of scrolls I got from CMB and stuck on, not quite the same, but it looks good. pirat

Gratings made up. Agian I replaced them with a finer lattice as the ones in the kit looked way to course and out of place!! pirat

This is where I am up too so far.
